What is Xbox Live and Live Points?
What is Xbox live ?
Xbox live is Microsoft's online gaming network for use with the Xbox 360 console. In my opinion this is far superior to PSN ( Sony's Playstation Network ).
To get started , you need an Xbox console , a good internet connection with a low latency eg. ADSL. Wireless 3g and other wireless internet is not recommended because they have a slow latency. ADSL or CABLE internet is preferred because of its low latency. Additionally you need to purchase a Gold subscription to be able to play online. These come in either 3 month or 12 month , the 12 month account works out a little cheaper in the long run . There are many sites online that sell these subscriptions at a cheaper rate than from Microsoft themselves .
Once you have purchased either the 3 month gold or 12 month gold you switch on your Xbox360 and goto the option " Join Xbox Live"
You fill in all the necessary details and when you get to the payment section there will be an option to " Redeem code " . Go into this option and continue to input the code given to you by the online store you purchased your 3 month gold or 12 month gold account from.
Once this has been completed you are now a Gold member ! Congrats!
Load up your favorite game ( We recommend games such as Gears of War 2 , Halo 3 , Call of duty etc. ) and Enter the gaming lobby
Put on your headset to communicate with the other online players and enjoy you online experience.
If you find that you enjoy playing with specific people you can add them as friends and continue to play with them in the future

What are Live points ?
live points is currency that is used on the Xbox Live market place to purchase , games , Game addons , themes , Avatars and so much more .
These Points are region based , so be sure to buy points that correspond to your region
There are 2 main regions when we talk about Live points.
EU and US. US Points work on all consoles that can play NTSC/ US Games , which generally are in North and South America
EU Points cover the whole of europe and parts of africa including South Africa
Once you have purchased your Live Points its as simple as going to the market place tab and going to the option "Redeem code"
In this section you enter the code given to you and your Xbox live account will be credited with the amount of points you purchased!
Once you have points in your account you can proceed to purchase content from the xbox live market place.
