Pure Football (Xbox 360) $4.99 There's no escaping it – football is Britain's top national sport. So why not celebrate that fact with a new game that aptly represents it? Pure Football is a new face in the league of annual FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer games, but just like in the beautiful game it's got a good heart, and that will see it go places. Rather than emphasise the simulation aspects of the sport, Pure Football focuses on the intense, physical and spectacular aspects. Which is a good thing really, because every football fan loves watching a player show off some flashy moves. It achieves this with a specialised camera that is set over-the-shoulder, with an intense audio experience that dynamically reacts to the situations of the match. The result is an arguably more immersive experience than your usual virtual 90 minute game. To speed up the action and make it even more dramatic, Pure Football pits five-a-side teams against one another. When you consider that this involves 230 elite footballers and 17 international teams, that's certainly more than enough to create your very own dream team. Add to this the ability to create and customise your very own player, along with four-player local and 1-on-1 online multiplayer matches and leaderboards, and you have a game that is more than game enough for some exciting football action. |

DiRT 3 (Xbox 360) $19.99 Codemasters’ brings the third iteration of its gritty and initially rally-centred driving game to the market with two notable additions: YouTube and mad-skilled American car-stunt star, Ken Block. Ken adds some spice to the on- and off-road circuit, open track and head-to-head racing with his ‘Gymkhana’ mode. This has less to do with racing than it does with tricking in order to please the crowd and gain points. Tricks that the gamer and their car of choice have to complete include getting heaps of air via hair-raising jumps, performing tyre shredding ‘donuts’ and ‘spins’ as well as drifting around corners and beneath huge trucks. Of course, building on the heritage of the Colin McRae Rally series that set the rallying standard for videogames, that form of co-partnered fast but intensely skilled driving also features heavily in the career mode. A wide variety of venues from Aspen’s snow to Kenya’s dusty heat are included. Also included is Rally-Cross, in which the gaming driver must face several surfaces in a circuit-based set of races. All of this is achieved in a variety of in-car and out-of-car viewpoints in both single-player and multiplayer modes. The latter includes local split-screen, LAN and online competitive play. A vast roster of vehicles, including Ken Block’s DC Shoes Ford Fiesta and the official cars featured in the World Rally Championship are available. In short, the gamer can play nine Pure Rally classes with six non-rally classes: Rally: WRC, Open rally (Rally America), Super rally 2000, Group B(4WD), Raid, 60s rally, 70s rally, 80s rear wheel drive and 90s. Non Rally: Rallycross, Modern Trailblazer, Classic Trailblazer, Landrush trucks, Landrush Buggies and Gymkhana. |

Shadowrun (Xbox 360) $4.99 Powerful mega corporations, skyscrapers, cutting edge weaponry and... elves, dwarves and trolls? Suffice to say, this is not your big brother's first-person shooter. In a (let's face it) bizarre twist on the Shadowrun franchise, FASA Studios has taken the classic series and transplanted it from its fantasy realm and the RPG genre into the near future and the FPS genre. Magic's been absent for the last five millennia, but in the year 2021, it makes a comeback. All of a sudden creatures of myth are crawling out of the woodwork and challenging the world order. The world is now in a bizarre arms race between advanced future tech and magic. You can play as the RNA, a global mega corporation, and seek to bring order and profit to the world. Or, if you're feeling a bit anarchistic, join the Lineage to keep magic free and running wild. In another break from tradition, Shadowrun is the first game to offer a cross-platform multiplayer option between Windows Vista and the Xbox 360. Up to 16 players can duke it out online to see which platform really is the greatest for the first-person shooter. |

Too Human (Xbox 360) $4.99 Too Human is the 2008 offering from Silicon Knights, the developer behind Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. It twins Norse mythology with cyberpunk in an epic tale of discovery. Players take on the role of Baldur, one of the Aesir, who has taken it upon himself to protect and aid humanity in an ongoing war against the machines. So it is that you embark on an action RPG quest to fight the bad stuff and rescue humanity. Silicon Knights has come up with an innovative new control scheme that uses the right analogue stick for controlling your character's direction and, rather than using the left one for camera control, uses it for deploying weapons, much as you would expect for the likes of Geometry Wars. Too Human is bound to tickle the fancy of loot collectors - there's tons of the stuff, scattered everywhere you look. Similarly, there are oodles of customisation options to get your guy looking and playing just the way you want. Also on offer is online two-player co-op. Even Gods get lonely, you know. It just goes to show that sometimes they're all Too Human. Step into the world of Too Human, the next-generation third-person epic action game from renowned Canadian developer Silicon Knights. As the cybernetic god Baldur, you are thrust into the midst of an ongoing battle that threatens the existence of mankind. An ancient machine presence has forced the god's hand. In the first part of a trilogy, Baldur is charged with defending humanity from an onslaught of monstrous war machines bent on the eradication of human life.In Too Human, players are treated to a nonstop barrage of action powered by the seamless integration of melee and ranged firearms combat and fueled by breathtaking visuals enabled by the powerful combination of Xbox 360 and the Unreal Engine 3. Battles unfold in awesome scale as players engage with vast numbers of enemies. Gamers take it to the next level by playing the entire single-player campaign in multiplayer co-op mode via Xbox LIVE or system link. |

dark Sector (Xbox 360) $4.99 It's been a long road getting to the publication of Dark Sector. It was announced by Digital Extremes way back in the heady days of 2004, back when the Xbox 360 was still the Xbox 2. It's been that long coming. Four years on, and the year 2008 sees the release of the game in partnership with D3 Publisher of Europe. This third-person shooter has much in common with Gears of War in its cover system, forcing you to run from one spot to another or watch your brains decorate the wall. If you're going to spend your hard earned cash on Dark Sector, however, it won't be for just another third-person shooter. Nope, you'll be buying it for the glaive. 'The what now!?' you may well cry. Probably best for a bit of plot at this point. Players take on the role of Hayden Tenno, a special agent dispatched to a small former-USSR country named Lasria to take care of a nasty chap going by the name of Mezner. Mezner, you see, has gone and got his paws on a chemical weapon that has folk into all sorts of nasty, monstrous types with strange abilities. Not far into the mission, however, he gets exposed to the weapon and finds himself with a metal-like arm. A bladed disc grows out of his arm, and lo and behold, you have the glaive. The glaive can do all sorts of wonderful things. As well as being thrown for a spot of decapitation, it can be used for things like stealing fire, ice and electricity and then hurling them at your opponents. As you progress through the game, the number of abilities the glaive gives you will keep on trundling upwards. As you'd expect from any shooter in the age of the wonderful Interweb, Dark Sector comes complete with a multiplayer mode, supported either online or over LAN. |

F.E.A.R. (Xbox 360) $9.99 F.E.A.R. sets out its stall as belonging to the survival horror genre, in a first-person style. The title refers not to the emotion itself though, it merely alludes to it, and F.E.A.R. is the name of the elite squad of which you are a member. It stands for First Encounter Assault Reconnaissance. Clever, eh? The premise goes like this: an unknown paramilitary organisation captures an aerospace compound and takes hostages. Unlike most paramilitary groups, however, it issues no demands whatsoever. When a special forces squad is sent in to put the cheeky terrorists to the sword, however, they are all torn apart by an invisible force that attacks without warning. It is for this reason that the special F.E.A.R. team is put together. Gameplay is your usual mix of high production value FPS gameplay (sparks and smoke everywhere, sophisticated AI), with the title's horrific twists. From the outset you'll learn to expect the unexpected, and there's no hiding from the fact that you're up against a paranormal terror of some sort. Successful FPS games are all about incorporating cool stuff and there's plenty of that. You can execute any number of martial arts moves, with karate chops, jumps and scissor kicks all in your repertoire. You have access to some pretty exciting ordnance too, with handheld cannons and guns that evaporate people in your armoury. You also get a Max Payne-style slow motion ability that makes all your enemies calm down a bit so you can take your time taking them out. The Xbox 360 version of F.E.A.R. contains new levels, stunning visual effects for an intense action movie experience and unpredictable encounters with combat adaptable A.I. There will be an all-new Instant Action Mode, which is an arcade-style action filled with close quarters battles that track player progress via Xbox Live leader boards. Frenetic multiplayer support for up to 16 players is also featured. |

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 (Xbox 360) $44.99 Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 sees gamers hunting down and killing animals in Uganda. Be warned though, the main animal – the Kaftar - in the cross-hairs of the Top Shot Elite peripheral that accompanies the game is no ordinary beast: it is possessed. The Top Shot Elite peripheral was developed by the same team at Activision that developed the Guitar Hero controllers, and is constructed to enable pin-point accuracy over a wireless connection. It comes with a red lens filter that exposes animal tracks and even blood trails to aid in the hunt. It also provides pump-action firing and a resizable gun stock to suit anybody. The game follows the story of Cole Rainsford and his father as they seek to protect villagers from the terrorifying beasts that stalk the African environment. Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 involves tracking, fighting, even vehicle driving in your quest to find and hopefully defeat the Kaftar. Along the way the gamer needs not only to survive the terrain and animal attacks (including Lions, Leopards, Vultures, and snakes) but also to gain the trust of the local people including Mbeki the guide. Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 features a full single-player story lead campaign along with head-to-head multiplayer options. (Gun will not be included with Marketplace version.) |

Deca Sports Freedom for Kinect for Xbox 360
Deca Sports Freedom is a new game recently released for Kinect for Xbox 360. Deca Sports Freedom, by Hudson Soft, is a collection of ten (think decathlon) sports-themed mini-games. Unlike the decathlon these are not track and field events, nor do they all consist of summer activities. While not a launch title, Deca Sports Freedom joins the list of mini-game collections available for Kinect.
Deca Sports Freedom has a varied group of games consisting of: Tennis, boxing, archery, beach volleyball, dodge ball, kendo, mogul skiing, snowboard cross, figure skating, and paint ball. The latter of which, paint ball, is to beone of the first shooter-type games to be released using the Kinect sensor. The trailer shows players stepping forward, back, left and rightto move their in-game avatar. Shooting is accomplished by jerking your hand, and the mini-game appears to use some auto-aim. While at first glance, the Kinect may not look suitable for shooter and FPS games it will be interesting to see how imaginative manufacturers' will be when bringing the Kinect's capabilities to those genres of games and more.
Deca Sports Freedom, by Hudson Soft, is part of the Deca Sports line of games, and the first on the Xbox 360 and Kinect . It was released November 18. Deca Sports Freedom features both local and Xbox Live multiplayer and looks to be great funwith your friends. With its large collection of mini-games Deca Sports Freedom looks to be a great title to flesh out the line of Kinect games available this holiday season.
