can i transfer files from a damaged xbox 360 hard drive?

I knocked over my xbox a couple of times and now when I turn on my game it takes a long time to load up and then it doesn't show up, It also has one red light but when I take out the hardrive it workd normal.I don't wanna lose all the saved data and my profiles so can I just transfer it to a new one?

yes you can if you have xbox live their a vid on how to do it or go to xbox.com and type transfer to hardrive in the search box.
