Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive Question?

I am thinking of getting the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive but I need to ask a few questions first:

1. Is it really multi-region? My Elite Console is only Region 2. I ask this because I have other region DVDs which I cannot watch.

2. Does it improve standard DVDs in any way? (upscale)

3. I have found a shop(argos) that sells an Xbox 360 HD-DVD DRIVE and an Xbox 360 HD-DVD PLAYER. Is there any difference at all between a Drive and a Player or is it the same just a different name? It is the same price at £35 however one used to be £120 and the other £100. I have asked but they don't seem to see any difference, and nor do I. (I would include links but they website is down)

4. Is it worth it?
