Creating a Pokemon Video Game Collection at a Reasonable Price
Creating a collection of Pokemon video games can be a difficult, time consuming and expensive adventure. Since Pokemon is still very popular among children and adults, these games are always in demand. Once collectors find their copy's the available number of games continually decreases. Here are a few tips on how to find used Pokemon games and a few tactics on how to get them at a bargain.
First, find a flea market or farmers market where people come to sell old junk. If you can find someone selling a collection of their childrens old video games chances are they have some used Pokemon games in the stack. This situation is favorable because the vendor probably would like to get rid of whatever they brought to the market for a cheap price. A good tactic here is to buy multiple games and when your done tell the vendor "I am interested in these games, If I buy all of them can you do a little better on the price?". Most vendors at a flea market or Farmers market will accept any reasonable offer they receive, just don't lowball them to the point of insult. If you are only buying one game try offering $1 less than the asking price even if you feel that it is reasonable. Again, for the same purpose, that a vendor will probably not haggle with you over a reasonable offer.
Second, try local pawn shops or a "Buy & Sell". Users of these types of stores are always pawning video games. Owners of the stores know that vintage video games always sell well. The advantage of buying from these locations is that the owner probably paid such a low price for the game he can mark it up and still offer it to you at a bargain. The same rules apply here that apply to the flea market. Try and buy more than one game and ask for a discount. You can also employ the offer $1 less tactic if you only find a single item. Another fact about pawn shops is if you are really into collecting, go every week and check what they have. You will be surprised at how fast some of these places turn over their inventory. If the owners get to know you and see you buy lots of items, they will offer you better prices in the future.
Lastly, eBay is an excellent resource to find used Pokemon games. The best trick here is to find an auction with the game you want to purchase that also includes other games. If the entire lot sells for a bargain buy it, keep the ones you want, and resell the others! After it's all said and done it sometimes works out that you get your game for free!
