Ranally City Rating System $82.85 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Ranally city rating system is a tool developed by Rand McNally Co. to classify U.S. cities based on their economic function. The system is designed to reflect an underlying hierarchy whereby consumers and businesses go to a city of a certain size for a certain function; some functions are widely available and others are only available in the largest cities. The system was developed for Rand McNally by geographer Richard L. Forstall and released in 1964. The city rankings are updated periodically in the Rand McNally Commercial Atlas and Marketing Guide, an annual twovolume set, which is available in many libraries. Among the criteria for categorization are retail sales, newspaper circulation, and the presence of universities and hospitals and corporate headquarters. The size of the citys tributary area is critical to determining whether it will be rated a 2, 3, or 4. As of 2006, there are 1492 cities rated. Traffic Light Rating System $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A Traffic light rating system is a system for simply indicating the status of a variable using the familiar red, amber (yellow) or green of traffic lights.Food sold prepacked may be labeled with a traffic light label showing at a glance the proportions of fat, saturated fats, sugar, and salt using traffic light signals for high ( red ), medium ( yellow ) and low ( green ) percentages for each of these ingredients. Foods with green indicators are healthier and to be prefered over those with red ones. The label is on the front of the package and easier to spot and interpret than Guideline Daily Amount (GDA) labeling which will continue. The GDA is difficult to understand for many, including children, and does not lend itself to quick comparisons. The use of traffic light labeling is supported by many physician groups including the British Medical Association and welcomed by consumers. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 78 Publication Date: 2010/08/20 Language: English Dimensions: 6.00 x 9.02 x 0.19 inches |

Video Game Content Rating System $101.96 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A video game content rating system is a system used for the classification of video games into suitabilityrelated groups. Most of these systems are associated with and/or sponsored by a government, and are sometimes part of the local motion picture rating system. The utility of such ratings has been called into question by studies that publish findings such as 90 of teenagers claim that their parents never check the ratings before allowing them to rent or buy video games, and as such calls have been made to fix the existing rating systems. National Fire Danger Rating System $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In 1954 there were eight different firedanger rating systems in use across the county. Better communication and better transportation were beginning to make mutual assistance agreements between fire control agencies more practical than in the past. State compacts, and in the case of the Federal government, interagency and interregional agreements were bringing fire control teams together from widely separated areas of the county. It became necessary to establish a national system for estimating fire danger and fire behavior to improve and simplify communications among all people concerned with wildland fires. Work on a national rating system began in 1959. By 1961, the basic structure for a fourphase rating system had been outlined and the fire phase (spread phase) was ready for field testing. However, since the remaining phases of the rating system ignition, risk, and fuel energy were not available, a number of fire control agencies preferred to remain with the systems then in use. House Rating Schemes $129 "House Rating Schemes" provides information to students, architects and researchers in the field of the built environment. It reviews current House Rating Schemes (HRS) used in different countries and investigates how these schemes assess the thermal performance of a house. It challenges the way that these schemes assess building energy efficiency and their inability to evaluate free running buildings which do not need an energy load for heating and cooling indoor environments. Finally, the book proposes a new index and method for HRS in which the efficiency of a house design can be evaluated with reference to its thermal performance in both free running and conditioned operation modes. The book deals with various approaches and methods for rating buildings on the basis of different indexes, with implications for both energy efficiency and thermal comfort. It also guides readers through a computer simulation program for developing a rating system that evaluates and ranks building energy efficiency. |

Does China Need a Game Rating System? $114.71 Over the past decade, violencerelated issues start to surface from Chinas burgeoning electronic game market. The initiative of the nations first game rating system, however, was coldshouldered due to insufficient support. Concerns over the initiative and the scarcity of research on Chinese game violence have prompted the need for this study. Comparing with the American games, a content analysis found similarities in the quantity of violence in popular Chinese games and significant differences in context between the two groups. The findings suggest that a rating system is needed to assess Chinese games and protect the players from the risk of violence. However, this system needs to be tailored toward its own context. The analysis should help shed some light on game violence and its contextual issues in the worlds biggest game market, and should be useful for researchers, media professionals, policy makers, game developers, or anyone else who may be interested in this field.
