Top Korean MMORPG and MMO Games - the Second Part
1. After 537 Oz
After 537 Oz is a fun,well designed 2D side scrolling MMORPG with similar elements to Maplestory and Dragonica. The game was recently released and was a worldwide success. The game is mainly 2D like Maplestory, but has some elements of games such as Dragonica. The game has a lot to offer and is very innovative especially in game play and interactiveness. After 537 Oz offers fun, fast leveling, a lot of communication between players and most of all low specifications to run the game. The level cap is eighty and is easily achieved after a few hours of game play. The game's content is very large, with PVP and PVE. PVE stands out in the game as players will team up with each other and help each other in quests or in dungeons. The game recently entered Open Beta and it has a lot of potential after an amazing closed beta phase. 2.Aika Online
Aika Online is a 3D MMORPG that is currently in open beta phase and is one of the most underestimated MMOs in the world. The game is heavily based on PVP offering many routes for players to enjoy themselves. There are dungeons which open up at very early levels and continue until a player gets to the level cap. The game is also very quest based and the game has quests available until level fifty. The level cap is sixty and can be achieved within two months of casual game play. Players in Aika begin their journey after choosing their nation. There are five nations and all of them are enemies. This major war between the nations is the main reason of the heavy PVP in this as players are all packed into one server. The game offers four methods for PVP, the Aitan Arena, Open PVP in some areas, Nation Wars and Dungeons Sieges. The classes in the game are well balanced and each class has its pros and cons, some having heals and damage, heals only and damage only. Aika is simply a brilliant but underestimated MMO that deserves much more credit than it obtains.
3. Adus Online
Adus Online was recently announced by the Korean game company Global Service Platform. Adus is a 3D MMO that gives us a well developed skill system and very diverse PVP as there are two warring empires. The warring countries help promote large scale battles and a PVP system that helps become engrossed into the fantasy world. Adus Online also mixes in an interesting story-line with well made quests. The quests focus on gaining gold and levels to get players into the PVP mode of the game. The game has a treasure hunting system which affects the way our characters grow. The game also has some great PVE instances to offer with well designed dungeons and diversed enemies to fight. The game is currently in open beta and is near to its release somewhere in August. 4.Air Match Online
Air Match Online comes to us from the makers of Flyff and is an online strategy shooting game with some RPG elements. It is said to be similar to Valkryie Sky but it is yet to be confirmed. It will be published by Aeonsoft in Korea, but North American and European publishers are yet to be announced. A recent video and screenshots showed some very intense and fast paced battles between players and the game has a lot of potential. Its main focus is on PVP as the game has beautiful graphics with amazing details on the environment. The game also looks like Airrivals but seems to be amped up in many ways. The game also has a lot of missions and quests to do, mainly in groups. Parties and guilds are more than necessary in this game as players will need help in one of the hundreds of quests that the game has to offer. The game is a mix of RTS(Real Time Strategy), RPG(Role Playing Game) and shooting. Air Match Online is a highly anticipated MMO that won't let the gamers down.
5. Air Rider Online
Air Rider Online is a 3D MMORPG that is a major success in Korea and after two successful closed beta phases, the game is going to enter open beta soon. The official open beta date that was announced by Nexon Korea is July 21st. From screenshots and videos, players may think that the game is very childish but after playing the game for a long period of time, many players will agree that the game can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter the age. The game is fast paced, intense and simply fun. Players will love this game to its very end. The game is a room based racing game with cartoony yet satisfying graphics. The game also has a great musical score with music that we keep the playing in the game. Each map is unique in its own way and the game is very well balanced. The game depends more on skill rather than which kart the player owns. This is what most MMOs need and Air Rider simply delivers. I am looking forward to this game when it hits the United States and Europe.
6. Alicia My Horse Story
Alicia My Horse Story is a unique game that is totally new to the MMO world. It is a game based on horse racing and mixes fun with enthusiasm. Players begin their journey in this game by picking a race horse and a number. After that, the hop into the world of horse racing. The game's options are limitless as players can race against others, own a farm, breed horses and so much other things. In Alicia Online, your horse's capabilities are limitless as it can go as fast as lightning, or move very gracefully. Horses can also compete in contests for good prize money so players can upgrade the horse's gear. Alicia mixes great and fun game play with fantastic character development and the game can rise to the top of the sports MMO genre if it lives up the expectations.
7. Another Day
Another Day is a F2P Sci-Fi action MMOFPS that is currently in the open beta phase in Korea. It integrates futuristic equipment and items with modern day action. Another Day will be hosted by IJJI and go to more than one hundred and fifty countries world wide including North America and most of Europe. It will also be available in five different languages. The game is extremely popular in Korea and is picking up steam on a worldwide scale because of its publisher IJJI, who boasts an outstanding eighty-five million members. The game uses the same engine as Fear 1 and will prove to be very exciting and dramatic. The game is extremely unique as the game's weapons and armors have never been seen in MMOs thus far. The graphics are realistic and vivid. Overall, Another Day will be a blockbuster of an FPS as it is being developed and published by masters of the gaming universe.
8. Arche Age
Arche Age is an upcoming F2P MMO from the makers of Lineage 2 and is highly anticipated due to this. The game's development began in 2006 using the Cry-Engine2 system. The game's graphics are beautiful, well developed and extremely realistic. The game has a well written storyline and includes a total of eight races, each being very unique. Also, players will be able to design some content for this game and other games of the company at game fairs around the world. The first beta is planned for June 2010 in Korea and open beta is expected to start at the end of 2010. The game is a next gen game so it has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay. The story is based on two warring factions who once lived in peace. Thousands of years later, this peace had been broken the disaster rules the land. There are various quests to complete, awesome combat, an enhanced guild system and engrossing PVP. Overall, Arche Age will not let us down as it has a lot to offer and it is from proven game developers.
9. Apex
Apex is a casual MMO that was recently announced by Nexon. Apex is called a casual MMOFPS or First Person Shooter and after first looks at the game, it seems that it is very similar to the successful Team Fortress 2. The game's camera angle is front faced which helps new players a lot and it reduces the learning curve. The game will have both PVE and PVP modes. Apex has already finished its first closed beta phase. The game's art design isn't very unique as it seems similar to Team Fortress 2 as well as the recently announced, Microvolts but what is unique is the the well designed user interface which provides the players health at the top as well as at the character's side. The game also has multiple classes for players to enjoy, each with its own pros and cons. I personally cannot wait to try this game out and I hope you feel the same as Apex brings a lot to the plate.
10.Argo
Argo was recently announced by Korean developers,MGame and is a futuristic themed game that begins on Argo. Humans go to Argo after a destructive war on earth. In Argo, there are two races which survived the chaos and destruction. From screenshots and videos, players will realize that Argo is a very unique game as its graphics are fresh and its combat is fast paced and entertaining. Argo is a hybrid MMO and it mixes Sci-Fi elements with the old and ancient RPG elements. The game is already in open beta in Korea and is awaiting an announcement to arrive in North America and Europe. Argo's environment are beautifully crafted and are really a treat to the eyes. The game has a lot of classes to choose from and PVP is a focal point in the game. The game has open PVP between the warring factions as well as battlegrounds for other players. There are hundreds of quests and multiple dungeons for players to complete. Argo online's combat is truly amazing and the game will hopefully shine.
11.Battlefield Online
Battlefield Online is a free to play FPS developed by NeoWiz and Electronic Arts.. The game is fast paced and very fun. The game is a remake of Battlefield 2 but it does not use the same engine. The game uses Battlefield 2142′s engine modified with Refractor Engine 2. The game's graphics are largely improved compared to the original Battlefield 2 and varies in many other areas as well. The game is fully online with missions involved and focuses on large scale battles. The server capabilities are massive as it can hold one hundred players online at the same time. The open beta phase began on March 30th 2010 and is still taking place. Battlefield 2 was a huge success and Battlefield Online is said to be much better with some much needed enhancements and improvements to an already core system. I am waiting patiently to see the results of this project.
12.Blade and Soul
Blade and Soul is a fantasy martial arts MMO that is currently in development by NCSoft and has a lot of promise on the current MMO market with great game play, amazing graphics and awesome character customization and upgrades. The game consists of four playable races or humanoid species each with its own racial abilities and features eight playable classes, but only four have been unveiled thus far. The biggest difference between this game and others is the combat as it will force players to interact more with the environment rather than mindless and boring grinding. The game takes place in an ever changing world and as players evolve, the game's environment as well as the story-line will change drastically. The game also shows off martial arts techniques in ways never seen before. There are hundreds of skills for players to learn and upgrade which makes the fun limitless. Overall, Blade and Soul is one of the most highly anticipated MMOs of 2010 and will not let players down.
13.Call of Chaos
Call of Chaos is being developed independently by Npluto and is a 3D MMORPG with a quarter view. The game offers easy controls, a well designed world and most of all, a lot of fun. The game is very friendly to new players and still harnesses the will to keep veteran players in the game. The game is very similar to Eudemons and Diablo Three due to its camera view but differs in a few aspects such as the world that it is made in as well as combat. PVE is the focus of this game and it has a lot to offer in that department. It features endless quests and many dungeons for players to engage in. Parties and guilds will be at large in this game as players must team up to defeat bosses. PVP is very fun and great but does not the take the plate in this game. Call of Chaos has a lot of potential and will hopefully be great on its release.
14.Dragon Nest
Dragon Nest has been gaining a lot of players worldwide upon its debut into the MMO world last year and is still a blockbuster up to this day. After a certain level, players can enter the Nest Dungeon for many challenges. There will be no experience gains in this dungeon though, but there will be epic drops and a huge amount of gold for those who complete the dungeon. There are four main classes, the warrior, cleric, archer and sorcerer. Each class has its own skills to use in battle and possess the power to kill humongous bosses. PVE is amazing in this game as the the bosses are well designed and are fun as well as rewarding to defeat. The game is going to come to North America very soon via Nexon and its release date is yet to be announced. Dragon Nest is highly anticipated and will live up to expectations.
