Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) $14.99 One small step for Mario, one giant leap for Nintendo... Actually, that's not entirely true. Mario makes some pretty impressive leaps, too. 'How?' we hear you cry! Well, if the title didn't make it obvious, Nintendo has taken Mario into space. Zero gravity would make you jump pretty high, too... Some nasty folks have had away with Princess Peach and made off with her into space. Fortunately, Mario has found himself able to follow, so off he trots... well, flies. That's the plot. 'Nuff said. The real leap here, of course, is from the tried and tested controller to the Wii's remote and nunchuck combo. You can use the Wii Remote as a pointer at virtually any, um, point in the game, collecting small stars from the ether and firing them back at enemies or obstacles. But that's only the most basic incorporation of remote control that Mario Galaxy has to offer. With intuitive use of Remote movement, Mario can also spin, roll, shoot fireballs, catapult himself, tractor-beam himself through zero gravity areas, and do other things that you'd be better off finding out independently . In boss fights, too, Wii Remote movements are used for the delivery of attacks and killer blows while the Nunchuk's analogue stick controls Mario's basic movement. Happily for long-time Nintendo fans who were beginning to suspect that Nintendo had given up entirely on producing real games with real gameplay challenges, Galaxy is not easy to complete. The trick Nintendo Tokyo has pulled here is quite an ingenious one: Galaxy gives you all the moves you'll ever need and makes sure that it's perfectly easy to use every last one of them, but then it takes the liberty of pushing Mario to his outer limits through a long string of stages that appear to have been designed by madmen. There's something of The Prisoner about it: you're trapped in a pretty messed up place where nothing is ever quite what it seems, and you find yourself in ever more bizarre situations. In comparison, looking back, the level design in Super Mario 64 is tame. So, as we said, one giant leap for everyone... |

Of course, we were left wanting more, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks set to satisfy our celestial tastebuds and then some. Ramping the difficulty curve a little bit for experienced planet-hoppers, Galaxy 2 offers several new tweaks to the formula that will make this feel like more than just an expansion release. Top of the list is Yoshi, Mario's dinosaur pal, who can be used to travel quickly and flutter jump across various parts of the cosmic scenery. Eating various fruit will make Yoshi change colour and offer a new ability. Blue fruit will make him float up into the air, while red chillis will make Yoshi run at a breakneck pace. You're going to need these transformations and abilities to survive the mind-twisting designs of each stage. On top of this, there are two new suits for the hero to don; Cloud Mario and Rock Mario. The cloud suit lets you create up to three floating platforms for you to cross chasms with, while the Rock suit allows players to roll around hills and crash into enemies and obstacles to reveal new paths. The Mushroom World Is Not Enough – Mario Leaps to Galaxy 2
Princess Peach aka Toadstool being kidnapped by the wicked King Koopa back in 1985, Nintendo Entertainment Systems gave birth to a new hero "Prince Mario". Though we are not sure if it was a good time for Princess Peach or a great time for Nintendo itself (for creating the most successful gaming character ever), it was definitely a glorious time for the gamers out there and a real bad time for King Koopa. Millions of gamers around this planet fought the henchmen of the wicked king and many of them succeeded in saving the princess. Nintendo succeeded in creating one of the most addictive games even in the 2D world with the 8 bit gaming technology. Years passed by and Mario grew and so did the technology. With improved visuals and better looking Mario, the journey continued and the prince appeared in PC games and in all gaming consoles as well.
Mario Is 25 and the World has changed a lot
It seems that the advancements in technology are not just in the real world. With the technological advancements, Mario is to continue the adventure in the Galaxy for the second time. Now, instead of jumping from mushroom to another mushroom, Mario can leap between different Galaxies. Thanks to the cutting edge graphics – the prince is now leaping on a colorful 3D galaxy for the second time in Super Mario Galaxy 2. This time it is "Bowser" whom Mario is gonna deal with. The game plot is again about rescuing Princess Peach. It looks like as long as Princess Peach never stays home, the gamers will be having all the fun.
