Sacred and Naked $29.95 Sacred & Naked taps into a deep yearning in this country for a new kind of spirituality, contemplation and quest for meaning. Ruth Ostrow's new book looks at all aspects of life - love, parenting, relationships, sex, health, death and the need for the sacred and the simple in everyday life. Individual chapters in the book grapple with losing friends and loved ones, ponder fidelity in long-term relationships and health, and wonder how everyday lives can be made happy and meaningful. Ruth has always positioned herself as the voice of ‘every person' - not a therapist or expert, but a real person dealing with issues such as fidelity, raising a child, death, the sacred in everyday life and new lifestyle shifts such as voluntary simplicity. She sees her role as that of a ‘facilitator' who brings issues to the table that, in a world of increasing divorce and family disruption, we need as a society to discuss. Sacred & Naked shows that all of us are on a hero's journey; in our ordinary day-to- day lives we have endured as many trials, suffered as many losses, fought as many dragons, and endured as many daggers as any hero. Ruth's own journey over the past twenty years has seen her move from finance journalist at The Financial Review (and in New York) during the Greed-is-Good 1980s, to becoming a mother; through to her sexuality phase in the tabloids to someone on a quest for spiritual enlightenment experimenting with a personal SeaChange and voluntary simplicity in Byron Bay. Through the simple tales and parables in this book, Sacred & Naked will help readers make meaning in their own lives. |

In Search of the Sacred $12.95 This book is neither a deriding of the worldly "profane" nor a splitting up of reality into a supposedly unholy realm over against one which alone is consecrated to God. But something which threatens to be forgotten, to disappear from the memory of man is fixed upon here: namely, that in this world which is given us as our life's environment, not only does the striving to take care of our daily needs possess an obvious right, as well the marketplace, the economy, scholarly research etc.; but in their very midst there is something in the fullest sense "beyond" our daily concerns: "God's tent" among men, the sanctuary where, set off from the round of daily work, the bodily presence of the eternal Logos become man is honored and celebrated. "We must in the liturgy retrieve the dimension of the sacred." " Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger "Josef Pieper is proof that some grow wise as well as old. This book is typical of the deceptively modest meditations that have won him a world-wide audience. oIs nothing sacred anymore?' is a plaintive question often heard. Pieper enables us to see what a thoroughly secularized culture has lost and at the same time he draws attention to the Church, the altar, the Eucharist." " Ralph McInerny , University of Notre Dame "Josef Pieper's profound insights are impressive and even formidable." " New York Times Book Review ' |

Between Sacred and Profane $28 Over the past ten years there has been an explosion of interest in how religion and the sacred connect with the media and cultures of everyday life. How are religious communities, identities and rituals being transformed by new media such as the internet? What is the significance of the media when for many people it becomes the primary source of images and of an encounter with religious traditions? Do the media and popular culture themselves take on religious significance, and how do people make use of these popular resources to 'do' religion in the contemporary world? As researchers have tried to answer these and other questions, a growing body of literature has begun to develop. "Between Sacred and Profane" offers a major review of this young and exciting field of scholarship, highlighting both its achievements and flaws, and setting out an agenda for its next phase of study. The book is an invaluable guide and handbook for beginning students who are looking for a first overview of the key issues and debates, as well as for more experienced scholars who wish to reflect on how their work will develop in future."Between Sacred and Profane" will be required reading for courses in theology, religion and contemporary culture for many years to come. |

what games is sacred 2: fallen angel comparable to on the ps3?
i really enjoyed oblivion and fallout 3 and was thinking of getting sacred 2 ive read mixed reviews and i was wondering if its worth getting and which games were like it
Buy dragon age origins: ultimate edition, it is a very good fantasy rpg that is better than oblivion and if you prefer swords and sheilds over guns it is better than fallout too, and so much better than scared 2.
