Should I buy a refurbished PS3 from Gamestop?
I really want a 60GB or 80GB with PS2 backwards compatibility. I just don't want the mess of cables that comes with having three systems hooked up. Gamestop still sells some of these online. I was wondering, are they reliable? Do they put new casings on them, or do they just wipe them down? Do they send them to Sony to get refurbished, or do they refurbish the PS3s themselves? How do they refurbish them?
I know that's a lot of questions, but I just want to make sure that I'm not dropping $500 on a crappy system (and no dumb fanboy comments on that one, you won't change my mind!).
I do know someone who bought a refurbished gamecube years ago, and it was all good and fine. I also know someone else who has gotten a refurbished 360 and has had no problems.
I don't know all the answers to your questions, but I do know if you buy a refurbished system, and something messes up on it while under the refurbished warranty, take it back to GameStop and they have to give you a brand new system because they failed to sell you a reliable used product. If your refurbished console can survive past its warranty, chances are its been refurbished properly.
So I'd say go for it!
