Indian Railways Reservation and PNR Status Tool
With computerization of the Indian Railways reservation, getting tickets online has added to the convenience of millions of passengers. It is no surprise that in the current year itself, which is about to complete 6 months, over 8 million visitors have visited the online Indian Railways reservation wing, i.e. the IRCTC website. And with increasing demand of the people for online booking and to lower the load of IRCTC, Indian Railways is now facilitating passengers book tickets online at its corporate site as well. The Indian Railways reservation system stores the PNR (Passenger Name Record) of every individual passenger or those traveling in a group. It is a ten digit number mentioned on the top left corner of a rail ticket. In case the reservation is not confirmed, the passenger can visit the Indian Railways official website or IRCTC site and then find out the current status by feeding the ten digit PNR number at the related column. Of course the exact berth number and seat number related to your Indian railways reservation gets displayed around four hours prior to the departure time. In case, the seat is not confirmed, you can cancel the reservation.
Indian Railways is truly catering to the passengers to their convenience by running the reservation status tool. With a few clicks, passengers can discover ‘confirmed', ‘waiting' or ‘in RAC' status of the reservation done irrespective of whether the booking is done online or via a travel agent or at the ticket counter. The necessity of this tool is only increasing by the day!
Indian Railways has been adding trains after trains every year. But the passenger count is only increasing; the result is unconfirmed reservation. If you go for advanced bookings there are great chances that you get a confirmed seat. But if you get your Indian Railways reservation done a week or two-three days prior to your journey, there are little chances of getting a confirmation.
