Angry Birds For Your PSP
Finn people Rovio Mobile has had quite fun with their superstar physics-based puzzle game Angry Bird. Designed using simple castle destruction of old games (and other flash-based games), the developers at Rovio put together a bunch of really angry birds at war with egg theft gluttonous green pigs, added special powers to some birds and some good level design throughout the game and published it to the IOS. The rest, yes, for adoption. According to an interview with Rovio CEO Mikael Hed played a bestseller almost overnight in his native Finland, and thus began his conquest of all major mobile operating systems.

So after IOS, Android, Symbian ^ 3, WebOS, the game headed for its first major game console in: as a mini PlayStation for the PlayStation Portable handheld console and the PlayStation 3 home console. The game's 63 playable levels are available on PSP/PS3 for a sum of $ 3.99.

The main game is pretty simple: you have a catapult and a lot of gung-ho kamikaze birds at your disposal. You have to view these birds in pig fortresses and kill all the pigs in a plan because they stole birds' eggs. These pigs are evil. If this does not make much sense, this video will.
There are five types of birds available as you progress with various powers available. Birds launch order is predetermined, so you have to use some strategic thought to get through many of the higher levels.
The game has been ported well into the PS system. The controls are rock solid (unlike the rickety touch controls, which were particularly troubled on my phone) and the gameplay is (mostly) buttery smooth. There were layers of problems when a lot of destruction happened on the screen at once, especially when the blue bird hit ice barriers and the like. Although they were small, I really hope that they will not spoil the fun later with black birds (aka bomb birds) and the flying fowl. The sound is crisp, just as expected.
But is there a really good reason to buy this game on the PlayStation Store, especially when you can get exactly the same experience on your mobile phone for much less (read: free at Android)?

This is exactly the same experience as you get on your cell phone. Nothing extra added (as far as I could tell, and it's been a while since I've played episode 1's level), and no extra promised yet. While load times are a pain (as with all PSP games), is [almost] no layers of gameplay on a bigger and brighter screen can hold an appeal to the fanboys.
As for me, I had $ 4.03 left in my PSN wallet and knew nothing better to spend money on. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
