Your options to fix the PS3 Red Screen
One day you feel like relaxing and playing some games on your PS3. You go to turn it on and what happens? Instead of the menu, you get the PS3 red screen. What is the red screen and more importantly what can you do about it?
What is the PS3 red screen?
The PS3 red screen is an error message displayed in multiple languages on a red background, hence the name "PS3 red screen". The error message goes like this: "A serious error has occurred. Contact technical support for assistance."
What can you do to fix the PS3 red screen?
You can listen to the instructions and call Sony for assistance.
They'll probably request that you send your PS3 to them for repairs. Now this is a good idea if your PS3 is still under warranty since they shouldn't charge you for the repairs. If you open the case then you will void the warranty.
However if your warranty is expired you will be charged about $150, that's quite steep considering the price of a new PS3 is around $300.
Also, everyone who send their PS3 to Sony (whether it is under warranty or not) will have to wait about 6 weeks to get it back.
OR
You can fix the PS3 red screen yourself. But in order to do this you will need some sort of PS3 repair guide that will tell you step-by-step how to fix the problem. This is a really good option for those who PS3's warranty has run out. Make sure you get a good PS3 repair guide. I've seen some out there that offers safe repair methods, step-by-step instructions and 1 hour fixes. Some even have email support and members area so that you can ask for help if you get stuck. And the best part is that all the guides I have seen are below $75! That's less than half the price of sending your PS3 to Sony!
