I'm aware the 40gb ps3's don't have sd card slots and only 2 usb ports...?
but how does that reduce its functionality compared to he 80gb that has 4 usb ports? I mean, do some games require more than 2 usb ports? And it doesn't read Super Audio Cd's? Does anyone use that format? Thanks, guys. I would just really like to know what I'm getting into.
P.S I already know everything about backwards compatibility of the different models, don't bother mentioning that as another drawback.
*I would actually PREFER buying the 80gb but I don't know where they still sell them (I live in Manhattan.) I don't want a refurbished one from Gamestop, I want to buy one brand new. If you guys know any places, I'd be glad to know where. 
I wish Sony was releasing the MGS4 bundle sooner.
Some things that require usb ports:
the sixaxis controller, but only when it's charging
a logitech usb steering wheel
a SOCOM-style usb headset. not a problem if you use a bluetooth headset instead
a usb keyboard
a usb mouse
a usb external hard drive
a usb flash drive
a printer
an ipod
a digital camera
a webcam (not sure if the PSEye is usb or not)
Whether you'll need more than 2 usb ports depends on how many of these type of things you'll be using at once. I have a 60gb and only sometimes do I use all 4 ports. Right now my controller is charging, and I'm using 3. The others are a keyboard and headset, right now.
I don't know anyone who even uses any audio cd's anymore, let alone SACD...
