Ps3: 8 players In one console?

Is it possible for 8 people to play together in one Ps3? And how is it done If possible because the joysticks numbers only go to 4....

Or if not what is the maximum number of players?

Because on the Ps2 the only thing you needed was a multitap and I don't think that there is one for the Ps3...

Please lease any suggestions you may have, anything would be helpfull...

The PS3 will only go to 7 possible players.
All you do is plug the usb cable to synchronize
After 4, two lights will light up, ie. Player six will be, (light number)4,2.
