Playstation 3 Hardware Help?

My PS3 is a 40GB and I was wondering does doing a fan test will damage the PS3 in any way?
Also does a year-long Gamestop PS3 warranty cover the Yellow Light of Death?

Yes the gamestop warranty covers the yellow light. Your not really suppose todo the fan test unless your console has the yellow light of death, It is used for emergency disc removal. (You can eject disc any other way when you have the yellow light of death) So no i would try the fan test when its in working condition.
