Mindjack (PS3) $24.99 Everyone had their own idea of the future. Blade Runner had us thinking we’ll be talking to lifelike robots. The Matrix went one better and turned the whole world into a machine, having players ‘jack’ into the system to save mankind. MindJack goes even further than that, by allowing users to assume the role of Mind Hackers and jack into different people. As with all the best futuristic stories, MindJack tells of a world that has advanced substantially in technology, but has paid the price with corrupt governments, rising conspiracies and constant power struggles. There is a truth behind this new, seemingly fantastic technology - and if it ever got out, it could ruin civilisation forever. You control a member of a team of rogue agents, intent on fighting for their survival and unwittingly going deeper into the mystery of the technology. This isn’t your ordinary shooter though - MindJack offers an action-based online gaming world, providing a unique experience. Solo campaigns transition seamlessly into online co-operative play, while your gameplay potential is never-ending with your ability to jack into the minds of enemies, vehicles and even civilians to get the job done. Earn experience points and expand your hacker’s Arts abilities and become the best Mind Hacker there is. But watch out, there are others about that seek to hack into your mind! |

SAW (PS3) $13.95 You've watched the films, now experience the terror of SAW with the official computer game. Seems that wretched fiend Jigsaw just won't go away, as it appears the evil antagonist has taken control of an abandoned mental asylum and transformed it into a bespoke chamber of horrors. It’s all about life appreciation, don’t you know. Detective David Tapp is shot, and Jigsaw heals his wound - for a price. The killer places Tapp in his maniacal playhouse. Shocking meat-grinding utensils and vicious headgear is the order of the day here, and the only way to escape this terror palace is to play Jigsaw's twisted game. You must challenge the nutcase by overcoming various traps and dangers, and if you haven't been minced by horrific gadgets then the puzzles laid out in each room might just scramble your brain beyond repair. Using cutting-edge graphics to fully realise the strange and bizarre atmosphere of SAW, you control Tapp as he explores the asylum and beats up crazies that try to kill him. You can tackle your foes head on using hand-to-hand combat or weapons, or you can be more savvy and use some of Jigaw’s own traps against his goons. You’re not always alone in this game of horrors. AI teammates can help you overcome certain obstacles, and multiple paths allows for Tapp to experience different things and meet different people on each play through. For those looking for a dedicated SAW ambience, this will provide the scare of your life! |

Start The Party! (PS3) $9.99 Sony has had a lot of success with the PlayStation 2 EyeToy Play games, and with the release of the PS3 Move peripheral it makes sense that we get to enjoy another round of augmented reality-based mini-games. Start The Party! allows you to turn your living room into a funhouse once more, with over 20 different games to play and a Custom Party Mode to arrange them in any order you like! The PlayStation Eye tracks your body and shows an image of you on the TV, while the PlayStation Move is used to interact with the virtual objects to win points. Slice melons in half with your pirate sword, brush the teeth of a crocodile, pop various colours of pufferfish and whack pinatas, draw shapes, fan parachuters to raft-based safety, trim hair and swat bugs with your friends – pass the controller around for up to three additional players for maximum enjoyment. After you've beaten the clock (and your friends) in every game, a slideshow displays all the funniest photos of you moving around the room like a crazy person. Here's a meta-game for you: try and see if you can complete any of these mini-games without looking silly and having awesome fun at the end of it. Now there's the real challenge in this game. |

Help Me! I've got the PS3 Flashing Red Light
To fix the PS3 flashing red light you basically either send it to Sony or repair it yourself.
Sending your PS3 to Sony
The benefit of sending your PS3 to Sony is that a trained and experienced technician will fix the PS3 flashing red light.
However it'll cost you $150 (unless your PS3 is under warranty). That's half the value of a new PS3! Also it can take up to 6 weeks to get your PS3 back, and when you do get it back you'll find that your HDD memory would have been erased (Yes! Sony wipes the hard drive).
Caution-If you open your PS3 case, you will void the warranty
Fixing it yourself
Firstly if you are even going to attempt to fix it yourself, you need a good PS3 repair guide. When you look for a good repair guide make sure it offers:
- safe repair methods
- step by step instructions
- lots of pictures and maybe even some videos so that you better understand what you have to do
- some sort of support such as a members area or email support so that you can ask for help if you get stuck
- allows you to do repairs using simple household items
- some sort of guarantee so that if it doesn't work you can get your money back
The benefits of using a good PS3 repair guide to fix the PS3 flashing red light are:
- These guides usually cost less than half the price of sending your PS3 to Sony
- Many of them offer 1 hour fixes
- Some of them deal with a variety of problems that your PS3 can have. So if you fix the PS3 flashing red light and your PS3 unfortunately has another problem later in you may be able to fix that one too using the guide. Compare this to sending your PS3 to Sony multiple times paying $150 each time!
The drawback to using a repair guide:
You have to do the repair yourself...although that's not really a disadvantage if you are interested in electronics and want to see the insides of a PS3.
When I was surfing the net I found this good repair guide. Check it out for yourself keeping in mind the criteria above.
